The ubiquitous pallets that transport and hold goods, are an essential part of the global supply chain. Pallets can be made of wood or plastic, but comparing the two are like comparing apples to oranges.
While most of the world’s pallets are still made of wood, it has many inherent disadvantages, such as susceptibility to pest and fungus, posing health and contamination risks and may have other safety hazards. While wooden pallets are economical, the environmental costs are high.
Considering the years it take for trees to mature, cutting it down for relatively low-value wooden pallets which typically used for a year gives very low cost-benefit ratio. Plastic pallets used to be 3 times or more expensive than wooden pallets but their prices are now very much comparable.
Yet, plastic pallets offer many superior advantages such as durability, hygienic and reusable. In fact, plastic pallets are often used for 5 years or more and used pallets, damaged pallets can all be fully recycled.
As the quest for sustainability through a circular economy continues, plastic pallets definitely are the game changers, a niche where we at See Hau Global Sdn Bhd has been a pioneer and a leader since 1994. Our mission is built on the 3R principle of Reduce, Reuse & Recycle.
As the largest plastic pallet manufacturer in the region, we have two facilities with state-of-the-art recycling and moulding technologies capable of end-to-end process, that transform plastic waste to final products. We even initiated the trade-in program for used pallets, proving our commitment to reduce carbon footprint and rewarding our customers for sharing the same commitment.
The recycling process begins with collecting PP and HDPE raw scraps, which will otherwise be sent to landfills. These scraps are then carefully segregated and sorted, ground into flakes, wash to ensure free from dirt and contaminants, then dried and stored in silos.
When ready, these flakes will be fed through the auto blender, pelletised and finally inject into the moulds to form the final pallets. Our cargo pallets are designed to be one-piece to keep it light-weight, yet-strong, made 100% from recycled plastic and fully recyclable. They are packed along with goods of various industries and delivered locally or shipped overseas to end customers.
For See Hau Global Sdn Bhd, we offer local customers to recollect back the used pallets for reuse or recycling. Through this recollection program, used pallets would not end up in landfill and polluting the environment while we give them a new lease of life.
For overseas shipments, our pallets are easily collected for recycling at the destination countries. This is truly the concept of “Come from recycled…end in recycled.” We are proud that our green initiatives maximized the use of plastics, and by fully recycling it, we reduce waste and save many trees too. This is our accountability in action for the generations that come after us.
