SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE

General Explanation

Marine plastic debris is an emerging environmental concern for which reliable data and scientific knowledge are still lacking. Although preventative actions based on the precautionary principle should be taken, scientific knowledge in the following fields needs to be further explored to support evidence-based policymaking; monitoring method, flow of macro- and microplastics in the ocean, impact of plastics on marine ecosystem and human health, material flow analysis, life cycle assessment, and others.

LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT
CHEMICAL IMPACTS OF PLASTICS ON THE MARINE ECOSYSTEM
LEAKAGE ESTIMATION
MATERIAL FLOW ANALYSIS FOR PLASTICS
