KANEKA Biodegradable Polymer Green Planet™

KANEKA Biodegradable Polymer Green Planet™(PHBH) is produced by a microorganism biosynthesis process, in which plant oils are used as a primary raw material. PHBH shows biodegradable properties in soil and in sea water and it will be eventually degraded into CO2 and H2O through the digestive process of micro-organisms existing in the environment. It can be used for plastic applications, such as straws, shopping bags, cutlery and food packaging and therefore contributes to the achievement of eco-friendly environment. Kaneka Takasago manufacturing site has been producing PHBH since 2011. The pilot production, has a capacity of 5,000 MT/y. PHBH are listed in “positive list” of food contact approval in Japan, Europe (EU), USA and other countries regulations. Listed in the positive list of Ministry of Heath, Labor and Welfare (No. 57-1) Listed in the positive list of Japan Hygienic Olefin and Styrene Plastics Association (PL No. 2-52) Listed in the positive list of Commission Regulation (EU) No. 10/2011 (FCM No. 1059) Listed in the inventory of Food Contact Substance Notification with US-FDA (FCN No. 1835) PHBH obtained biobased, biodegradable and compostable certifications including the “OK Biodegradable Marine”.
