Recycled filament yarn is processed through a high-tech production process, which helps to reduce the amount of waste released into the environment, contributing to the protection of natural resources. Recycled Filament yarn is manufactured with complex technology but brings many environmental benefits. The production process of Recycled Filament yarn helps to diminish the impact on the environment as follows: – Selecting input sources: Collect post-consumer plastic bottles, non-biodegradable PET/polyester plastic bottles. – Raw processing: Sort, clean and unlabel the bottles, then the bottles are chopped into flakes which are cleaned again, and then melted in order to form into chips. – Spinning: There are two methods to produce Recycled polyester from chips after raw processing: 1. Mechanical treatment: Chips are melted into a polymer fluid for the traditional melt spinning process. This process might cause strength loss, thus it can be used a few times only to ensure that most of the characteristics of polyester are preserved, therefore, the production cost is moderate. 2. Chemical treatment: Using chemicals to break the cross-linking of polymers and turn them into new fibers by normal polyester spinning system. The process still maintains most of virgin polyester properties, accordingly, the production cost is high. Outstanding advantages and application of Recycled Filament yarn: 1. Recycled Filament yarn is recycled, although, still retains most of the structure and properties of polyester fiber, by applying current advanced technology to the production process. Recycled Filament yarn can be processed through Dope Dyeing or Fiber Dyeing technology to produce durable and quality garments. 3. Garment products from the Recycled Filament yarn are manufactured sustainably, continuing to recycle products after being used, minimizing landfill to the environment, creating a production loop – use – recycle – produce – use. 4. The Recycled Filament production process does not require the unnecessary exploitation of new oil, reducing the need for new oil depletion. Producing recycled polyester has 55% less CO2 emissions and consumes 53% less energy than virgin polyester. 5.
